Irvin joined the lab in June 2023, for a D. Phil. funded by the Clarendon Association. Before joining the lab, Irvin was studying with Maike Bublitz on P-type ATPase drug targets from parasitic organisms. Prior to this, Irvin did his Masters degree at the University of British Columbia with Franck Duong, working on developing the Peptidisc membrane mimetic system, isolating novel membrane protein complexes, proteomic analysis, and complex stabilization and isolation utilizing the Peptidisc system. For his undergraduate study at the University of Calgary, Irvin did a project on heavy metal ion interactions with lipids under Elmar Prenner, and a project on silver nanowire oxidation prevention with novel coatings for use in flexible circuits.
