Manan is a biochemistry student at Exeter College, Oxford and joined the group in September 2023 for his final year research project which is part of his undergraduate degree. For his project, Manan is studying trypanosome surface proteins under the supervision of Alex Cook. He is looking at the interaction of these proteins with blood serum, specifically investigating those that bind to components of the complement system. His work will provide insights into how trypanosomes evade the immune system and survive in the bloodstream for long periods of time.
