Max joined the lab in 2025 for his DPhil studies funded by the the Kyner-Field Graduate Scholarship in Structural Vaccinology. He will be investigating the interactions between antibodies and the blood-stage malaria antigen Merozoite Surface Protein 1 (MSP1) for rational structure-guided vaccine design.

Before joining the lab, Max did a BSc in Biochemistry at Imperial College London, where he developed interest in host-pathogen interactions and completed his final year project with Professor Faith Osier investigating the antibody-mediated immune responses triggered by Plasmodium falciparum MSP11. After that, he completed his MPhil studies at the University of Cambridge, where he explored the role of TRAM in the Toll-like receptor 4 innate immune signaling pathway using TIRF and HILO microscopy under the supervision of Professor Clare Bryant.
